What is worth seeing on Gavdos

Ampelos - the name is derived from the grapevine plantations exuberantly growing under the southern sun. Faros - was built on the highest possible point (360 m) of the island in 1880 by the "Ottoman Lighthouse Company". It used to be the second lighthouse erected in the highest place in world (after the Lighthouse on the Fire Island). Destroyed during World War II in 1942 it went out for over 60 years. ..... Potamos - a vast beach with the yellow-red sand in the north-western part of Gavdos. Here you can get only by boat or following the route up and down the steep slopes of the crag (over 200 meters).
